My show with ReTooled is tonight. The band exclusively plays the music of Tool, which is extremely challenging--especially for the drums (thanks to the genius of drummer, Danny Carey).
I've been learning these songs for two years. I've listened to them hundreds of times yet there are still hundreds drumming nuances that I am NOT playing. And it's not just the drums--there are hundreds of other parts (guitar, bass, vocals, harmonies, sound effects, etc) that I discover nearly ever time I listen to a song.
It's astounding how much detail there is in music--not just Tool, but any music. It's the little nuances that allow someone to listen to a song again and again and again yet always find something new. It's one of the things that makes music so magical.
I just hope I can remember all the notes and nuances in tonight's show!!
I hope to see you soon!!!
~Steve
